When The Boredom Settles...

OK, so I'm back... actually I've been back for a while (the liver didn't get as destroyed as one might've thought) but I've not actually been bored enough to want to come here and write some crazy shizz. I guess I'm just not the blogging type, I'm just not ready to commit to it...

Hopefully I will soon since I ordered the device-contraption-ma-gizmo type thing which could grant me some luck with putting stuff from that there camcorder onto this 'ere computater. Of course, because I've now written that, I have in fact jinxed it now and it will end up actually proving no use at all but did while away a week of waiting and a hundred and forty-five pounds of sterling monetary value. While I'm here I might as well go all the way and plan what I want to do with it in the case that it definately will work and that I have the utmost faith in it and nothing could ever possibly go wrong with it. No, nothing.

In my time off in the Land of Ire, I have been letting the creative juices and comic stupidity-ness and stuff go crazy in an attempt to develop jokes in the event that going anywhere in the world of Media completely falls through and I want to try to break into the much easier life of stand-up comedy. Of course, I still suffer from mild confidence issues so standing up in front of a bunch of people who want to laugh only to be barraged with the nonsensical whittering and babblery stemming from my mouth will probably, again, fall through. Maybe I shouldn't try "stand-up" so much as "sit-down". Preferably sitting at a desk writting comedically.... which will yet again get me nowhere. I guess I must be doomed to a life of shop assisstantry at least for the near future.

...so yeah, that little gizmo-box better work.

Dearest Liver...

Oh Liver, I'm afraid I must apologise in advance for the torturous abuse you are about to receive. Sure, you thought last night was pretty bad, but really last night was just a warm-up. You see, even though the northernmost quarter of the Emerald Isle is technically part of this country, geographically it is in fact (believe it or not) part of said Emerald Isle. And because of the beverages with a certain amount of alcoholic content pretty much running like tap water (you know like orange juice in Florida, or actual tap water here), I think I can safely say that for the next 6 days I'm going to be feeling eternally drungover... you know, that kind of hungover where you're still kinda drunk from the night before so end up drinking more alcohol to cure it...

Anyway, yeah... I promise you, oh sweet Liver, that you need not be replaced in some kind of transplant operation but I'm sorry to inform you that you might feel a week-long burning and stinging sensation.

Love and kisses,
The rest of the body.

(PS: To make up for it I'll run a marathon when we come back so as to punish Heart into feeling a similar amount of pain... maybe not though, I don't really like running)

Crap Dammit!

So I guess I'm almost ready to do some crazy videos and stuff. Or at least I was. Commence story:

After getting that £117 camcorder from Argos, I was most disappointed to learn that there was no way of connecting it to this 'ere laptop as it's just an AV camera (which connects to analogue shite... which is really just a TV) and not DV (digital... computers, et al.)

Anyway, luckily I'm on a college course which deals primarily with Visual Media involving people who are actually well experienced in all the technobabblery and shizz. Turns out you can get some kind of converter to do AV to DV and stuff like that which made me rather happy. Trouble is it costs upwards of £100, which is yet another £100 on top of the £117 I spent on the blaady thing. But wait, what's that? A DV socket on the camcorder... but they told me it doesn't connect to a computer. But it clearly does and I have tested this in college. Weyhey. Then all I need is a simple cable off Amazon or somewhere for less than a tenner to connect it straight up. Woop-de woop.

Cue the arrival of the Amazon package of the cable connecting the camcorder to the computer. Oh yeah, it doesn't work...

Gahh!!!

Why not?

"Because there is no driver and therefore I don't know what sort of mechanical devillery this device is, fnar fnar!"

OK, so back to Plan A and the tiny converter box which will apparently set me back some £145 quid (because 100 was just an estimate). So I think my first video will most likely come about around mid-to-late June, coincidentally tying in with some birthday celebrations, which is strange since I'm not really one for celebrating my birthday.

Anyhoo... yeah, I can't be buggared with it any more right now so it'll be revisited in May-June-ish, or something.

And for now you'll just have to make do with reading.

Previously...

OK, I realise I've been a total blog whore but I've finally settled down over here on a blogspot blog because it's easier to use, better for surfing other blogs and, well... I wanted a new name really. Seems 'aquamaroon' isn't original enough. I guess other people actually created the pun before I did. Heck well anyhoo, I've chosen (and decided I'm actually going to stick to) this one under the alias of 'HardlyAmazing'... which incidentally is in itself hardly amazing. But at least this way I can't complain. See I wanted something original (more original than my real name at least) but I've always tended to be too clever with these aliases... (aliai?)

Anyway... I'M STAYING HERE! And I've even created the YouTube account to prove it. The YouTube account which will come into use quite soon, hopefully. Tis the curse of being a Media Production student... I now feel the uncontrollable urge to fuse my already fused love of comedy and love of music with my knowledge and understanding and growing love of filmmaking.

That said, my attempts at funniness and hilarity will soon bombard the Tubey-ways, along with attempts at musical stylings... and even greater attempts to combine the two. Like those times when I've translated the lyrics to "I Kissed A Girl" into French or sang Rihanna's "Umbrella" in the voice of Kermit The Frog. Not to mention Scouse Coldplay.

If I can ever be bothered firing up the oh-so new camcorder I just got to aid my college work/'spare-time-when-I've-got-nothing-better-to-do' extra projects, I'll be sure to get them recorded and whatnot.

In the meantime... since I can't import blogs from blog.com into blogger.com (who'da thunk it?) and copying and pasting would take a long time, as well as fuck up the dates and stuff I might as well just direct you to the aquamaroon archive (01/2009-03/2009). May she rest in peace.
